Everyone wants the Jeffboat property to 'become something,' one area developer says, and now officials are working to redevelop the former shipyard. The property stretches nearly 80 acres near the Ohio River in Jeffersonville, Indiana. It's the site of the former Jeffboat, a shipyard and builder of barges. It was founded in 1834 and closed in 2018. Jeffersonville-based American Commercial Barge Line, the owner of Jeffboat, reached an agreement for redevelopment of the site with the city in September.
